M. V. Taiho (‘Heart of the Tree’)      Is a classic 40’ carvel-planked launch, built in 1957 from one-inch kauri plank by Swanson’s boatyard in Picton. The Taiho is suitable for sleeping five persons on any overnight excursions with larger groups possible on one day trips. Taiho is powered by a 115 h.p. Ford diesel motor and weighs 15 tones. Taiho is fully equipped with all the required safety equipment and holds an up to date survey certificate to carry nine passengers on day trips and five passengers overnight. Internal and external showers are available as well as a flush toilet and a well-equipped galley with full cooking facilities.

Photo left: Meals are is cooked for you! Your crew are also accomplished cooks and will cater for your needs with meals. Not only can your cooking requirements be taken care of but also any seafood you catch during your days adventure. Options range from bringing your own food supplies or we can include this in the trip price including a menu for the trip if required. All trips include tea ,coffee and hot chocolate. Also on-board is an ice box which is ideal for making a salt ice slurry used for chilling down the catch during your time out on the water. This will keep your fish in prime condition until you are ready for the return  journey home and bringing a chilli bin is also adviced.

There is something about this boat. Taiho is very comfortable and once on-board you will feel right at home!    Taiho has comfortable sleeping quarters and all you will need to bring is a sleeping bag or duvet with plenty of storage available for personal effects and all your fishing/diving equipment.
